101 okey table: a 22-tile rack, the indicator, the okey and the penalty score

How to play 101 okey

101 okey uses the same 106 tiles and 4 players, but the goal is different: lay your tiles on the table as melds and finish your hand first. Everyone is dealt 21 tiles; the player who starts gets 22.

  1. Open: the melds you lay down must add up to at least 101, or lay down at least 5 pairs.
  2. Lay and add: on later turns you may lay new melds and add tiles to the start or end of melds on the table.
  3. Finish: throw your last tile and the hand is over; you score −101.

A tile taken from the left must go on the table that turn; if you can't use it, you give it back and score 101.

101 okey in partners

Pick partners when you host the table and players sitting opposite each other form a team whose penalties add up. With voice chat you can talk tactics with your partner. The team with the lowest total at the end wins.

For the classic version played with 14 tiles and no melds on the table, see okey.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play 101 okey with voice and video?

Yes. Everyone at a 101 table can turn on their microphone and camera with one tap. Playing in partners, you can talk strategy with your teammate.

How do you open in 101 okey?

The melds you lay down (runs or the same number in different colours) must add up to at least 101, or you must lay down at least 5 pairs. An okey counts as the tile it stands in for.

How are penalty points counted in 101 okey?

Whoever finishes scores −101. A player who never opened scores 202; one who opened scores the sum of the tiles left in hand, with an okey counting 101. Opening with pairs doubles it. Finishing by throwing the okey, or opening and finishing in the same turn, scores −202 and doubles everyone else's penalty.

What is a workable tile?

A tile that could be added to the start or end of a run, or to a set, already on the table. Throwing a workable tile or an okey costs 101 points.

Can I play 101 okey in partners?

Yes. Pick partners when you host the table; players sitting opposite each other form a team and their penalties add up. The team with the lowest total wins.

How many hands are played?

The host picks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 or 11 hands. Penalties add up across hands, and after the last one the lowest total wins.
